Pharmacy Technician Certification
This course is a pre-certification course to prepare students for the official Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. This comprehensive, 60-hour course will prepare students for an entry level position in a community pharmacy, hospital, or long term care setting. During this course, students will receive an excellent review for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national certification exam.
Course Topics: Learning Medical Terminology specific to pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions, defining drugs by generic and brand names, calculating dosages and I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, converting dosages, dispensing of prescriptions, controlling inventory, billing, and reimbursing insurance.
Prerequisites: Basic Math and Algebra is required to be able to calculate pharmaceutical calculations for this course.
Additional Info: Textbooks are included in the course fee.
Exam: The exam is included in the course. For information about the exam, visit: www.ptcb.org. You will need a GED or high school diploma to be eligible for the exam. Any person convicted of a felony is not permitted to sit for the exam.
