Reading, Writing and Communication Skills WIA Approved

This course is intended for high school graduates, high school transition students and adults who wish to improve their literacy skills. The class will provide exercises to help strengthen reading comprehension, listening, speaking, information gathering, and writing skills. Emphasis will be on increasing problem solving and managing life situations. It is designed for potential college students or adults wishing to find employment or increased employment.

This 13 week class meets twice a week. Each class is 2 hours in length with the last half hour designed so students begin their practice assignments while still in a supported group tutoring setting.  There will be both a master teacher and a tutor in all classes. At the end of the course students will also receive recommendations and referrals based on their individual goals and skills.

This course is being offered through HCC Continuing Education. Textbook is an additional $50. Third party payments accepted.
