BRIDGEPORT (11/21/07) – Registration is underway for Spring classes at Housatonic Community College.

“We’re making it a lot easier for people to register,” said Housatonic spokesman Anson C. Smith. “We’re offering several registration options with convenience in mind.”

Those options include formal registration sessions through Jan. 22 as well as walk-in registration, paperwork drop-off, online registration and registration by mail or fax.

Convenience goes far beyond registration options. The college will offer six classes at Ansonia High School and ten at Milford’s Jonathan Law High School. In addition, the college is offering 34 online courses and 66 weekend courses.

For Connecticut residents, tuition for a three-credit course is $378, including fees, and $1,414 including fees for a full-time course load (12 semester hours or more).

The college is processing walk-in registrations for the fall semester, and will continue to do so weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Tuesday, Jan. 22. Online registration will be conducted through Jan. 25.

In addition, students can register by mail, fax or by dropping off completed paperwork in the lobby drop box near the Information Desk through Jan. 7.

As has been the practice in the past, the college will conduct formal registration sessions through Jan. 22. Sessions have been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 27, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday Dec. 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 12, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Monday, Jan. 7, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Late registration sessions will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Jan 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Thursday, Jan. 17, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; and Friday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A special registration session for high school partnership students will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2-3 p.m., while a special session for senior citizens will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

In Ansonia, classes will be offered in Biology, English, History, Psychology and Sociology. In Milford, classes will be offered in Economics, English, History, Psychology, and Spanish.

The online courses include offerings in areas such as Art, Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Early Child Education, English, History, Health, Human Services, Latin, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.

The weekend courses include Friday evening courses in Art, Computer Science, English, Mathematics, and Psychology, while the Saturday offerings include courses in Accounting, Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Communications, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Developmental Studies, Early Childhood Education, English, English as a Second Language, History, Manufacturing Technology, Mathematics, Psychology, and Spanish.

Sunday course offerings include Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, History, Mathematics, Psychology and Sociology.
