HCC OFFERS MORE THAN 100 NON-CREDIT COURSES NEXT SEMESTER

BRIDGEPORT – You can sharpen those skills you need for that job change or promotion this semester at Housatonic Community College.

The College’s Continuing Education Department is offering more than 100 non-credit courses for professional advancement or personal enjoyment. While some courses are free, tuition for courses typically ranges from $10 to $498.

“These are fast-track, no-nonsense courses designed to give you what you want, when you want it,” said Deborah S. Kuchmas, HCC coordinator of continuing education.

“They’re ideal for people who want to improve their skills fast – so they can make themselves more marketable – for a career change, a new job or a promotion.”

“These student-graded courses are graded on a pass/fail system,” she said.

The selection of courses being offered includes online courses in the computer and medical fields. Courses being offered include:

* Financial Education: Credit (starts 2/7); Protecting Your Identity (2/14). Financing A College Education ( 2/21); Home Buying (2/28); Home Equity (3/6)
* Business: Fiscal Fitness for Women (3/11); Prenuptial Agreement (4/11); Public Speaking (2/8).
* Arts: Acting (2/4); Salsa (2/20); Hip-Hop (2/14).
* Computer Online Courses: MS Office (2/4); Advanced Word (2/4); Advanced Excel (2/4); Dreamweaver 8 (2/4); Flash 8 (3/24); Action Script (2/4); Intro To HTML Web Page Design (2/4).

In addition, HCC is offering certificate programs in he following areas:

§ Real Estate: Real Estate Principles and Practices (2/5, 2/8, 2/9); Current Issues In Real Estate I (2/8); Current Issues In Real Estate II (2/15); Basic Appraisal Principles (2/25); Basic Appraisal Procedures (4/7); Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal (1/26).

* Bartending (2/6).
* Online Medical: Medical Billing (2/25); Medical Coding (2/25); Medical Terminology (2/25).
* Personal Training (2/17).
