FOLK SINGER GEOFF KAUFMAN TO PERFORM AT HCC APRIL 16

BRIDGEPORTInternationally renowned folk singer Geoff Kaufman, a fixture on the folk scene for nearly 30 years, will give a two-part performance at Housatonic Community College Thursday, April 16.

Kaufman, who has performed with the Sloop Clearwater on the Hudson River for eighteen years and has given many shows for such groups as Audubon and Sierra Club, will appear at HCC as part of college’s Third Thursday Cultural Celebration series, which, in April, is focusing on the Culture of the Environment. Kaufman has performed his environment-related music in Holland and France.

Kaufman will conduct a workshop with HCC Theater Arts students from 2 to 3:15 p.m. in which they’ll develop a performance piece. At 7 p.m. the piece will be performed and Kaufman will give a solo performance.  Both events will be held in the college’s Performing Arts Center.

The events are free and open to the public. During most months in the academic year, the Third Thursday Cultural celebration series brings a performing artist representing a specific culture comes to the college to develop and perform a piece with Theater Arts students and give a solo performance.

The college is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd, Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-95 (Exit 27) and Rte, 8 (Exit 1) in downtown Bridgeport, a block from the Arena at Harbor Yard. For more information, contact Prof. Geoffrey Sheehan at 203-332-5270.
