HOUSATONIC COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST GIRLS AND TECHNOLOGY EXPO TUES, APRIL 7

BRIDGEPORT – More than 100 seventh grade girls from the Greater Bridgeport Area will assemble at Housatonic Community College Tuesday, April 7 for the eighth annual Girls and Technology Expo. Students from Fairfield, Bridgeport, Trumbill, and Shelton are expected to attend. Connecticut State Comptroller Nancy Wyman will address the students, who will receive a day-long exposure to the use of technology in a wide variety of field through workshops and exhibits. The formal program will begin at 9:15 a.m., with addresses by Wyman and HCC President Anita T. Gliniecki, in the Events Center in Beacon Hall. Workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 10: 55 a.m. and will be repeated in the same locations from 11:10 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. The workshops and their locations include Using Adobe Photoshop (Room 361, Beacon Hall), Web Design (Room 320, Beacon Hall), Microscopes and the Art of Blood Cells (Room C208, Lafayette Hall), Guhshot Residue and Light Sources for Evidence Collection, (Room 273, Beacon Hall), and The Mystery of DNA (Room C206, Lafayette Hall.) Exhibits will be on display in The Events Center in Beacon Hall from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. Exhibitors will include the  American Association of University Women; Alloy Engineering Company; Aquarion Water Company; Barnum Museum; Beardsley Zoo; Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, Commercial Vehicle Safety Division; Connecticut State Police; Discovery Museum; Housatonic Community College,  Continuing Education and Workforce Development Division; Schwerdtle Stamp Company; Sikorsky Aircraft; and Southern Connecticut Gas Company. The college is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in downtown Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-95 (Exit 27) and Rte. 8 in downtown Bridgeport, block from the Arena at Harbor Yard.
