The event, sponsored by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, focused on improving the educational experience for Latinos. Gliniecki was invited to attend.

In September 2009, representatives of the White House Initiative came to Housatonic to conduct a community conversation geared toward improving the academic achievement of Hispanics. The forum gathered input from attendees on how Hispanic educational attainment could be improved and what should be done to make that happen.

This May, White House Initiative Executive Director Juan Sepulveda was the commencement speaker at HCC graduation ceremonies.
