HCC Offering Comprehensive Training/Consulting Services

To Meet Employee Development Needs Of Businesses, Organizations
Provides Needs Assessment, Business Solutions
Complimentary Diagnostic Services Available

BRIDGEPORT - Housatonic Community College this month is launching a comprehensive affordable consulting/training service for area organizations and businesses.

Through its new Strategic Solutions Group (SSG), Housatonic will offer both workplace needs assessment and customized training designed to meet organizational needs. Six months in the making, the service will formally kick off Otcober. 7.

";The key feature of this service is needs diagnosis," said Gary A. Kecskés of Trumbull, dean of Community Outreach. ";Our organizational specialists will meet first with prospective clients to learn as much as possible about their operations and the workforce challenges they face. Then, the HCC specialists will develop an appropriate, customized response to address a client's unique employee development needs."  

SSG's organizational specialists, G. Thomas Sheffer and Joseph G. Jenecaro, have extensive experience as corporate trainers and workforce solutions providers, Kecskés said. ";Having served organizations large and small across a wide spectrum of industries, they are well equipped to provide diagnostic services, needs assessments, and tailored workforce solutions to businesses and organizations in our service area in New Haven and Fairfield Counties," he said.  

SSG offers its basic diagnostic services at no charge, Kecskés said, and will help to identify any sources of supplementary funding that can be used to implement its recommendations.  Training services are provided on a competitive fee-for-service basis."

SSG is equipped to provide businesses and other organizations the solutions they need when they need them. ";We have the ability to quickly respond to a prospect's needs by moving at the speed of business," Kecskés said. ";We can respond from the time we receive an inquiry, through conducting a needs assessment, to providing a finished proposal to meet those needs in as little as ten working days if needed."

Another distinguishing feature of SSG is the robustness of its program offerings. ";We offer a broad portfolio that includes some 230 offerings in areas such as effective management and supervision, contemporary workplace issues, communications skills including presentation and negotiation techniques, effective customer service and outreach, desktop software, and shop-floor technical programs," Kecskés said. ";To complement HCC's own extensive inventory of competency-based employee training programs, we've also added some 40 award-winning programs licensed to us by Development Dimensions International (DDI), a nationally known provider of workforce training programs."

The seasoned content experts who conduct the programs have extensive real-world experience in their fields," he said. ";Many have experienced the types of challenges clients face and have successfully addressed them."

In addition to SSG's own thorough assessment of every client program, Kecskés said, ";We can, at the client's request, develop evaluation tools to measure participant achievement at a program's close."
