DECD To Outline Small Business Assistance Programs 9/30 At HCC

BRIDGEPORT -‑ The state Department of Economic and Community Development will showcase its small business assistance programs Monday, Sept. 30 at Housatonic Community College.

Deputy Commissioner Ron Angelo will outline the programs, and DECD staffers will be on hand on answer questions about them.

“We have some of the best tools in the country to help small businesses,” said DECD Commissioner Catherine H. Smith. “In the past two years, we have helped hundreds and hundreds of small-business people achieve their goals.”
“Connecticut has experienced the best two-year record of job growth since the late 1990s, with tens of thousands of private sector jobs created,” she said. “To continue that trend, we’re getting out to communities to make it a little easier for local business people to learn about our programs, and to provide an opportunity to meet one-on-one with members of our economic development staff.”

The program will begin at 9 a.m. in the Events Center in Beacon Hall. Walk-ins are welcome.

HCC is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in downtown Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-95 (Exit 27) and Rte. 8 (Exit 1), a block from the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. Free parking is available in the Housatonic garage.
