HCC President Receives Kudos

DERBY – Housatonic Community College President Anita T. Gliniecki of Monroe has received an educational leadership award from the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Gliniecki, who is retiring in August after serving as HCC’s President since 2006, received a “Leadership in Higher Education” award for her “distinguished service at Housatonic", said Chamber President Bill Purcell. In announcing the award, Purcell praised Gliniecki for her “outstanding service and leadership.”

The award was presented at the Chamber’s 50th annual meeting.

Gliniecki was also honored by The Workplace, where she’s served on the Board of Directors. At the quarterly meeting of the Board, President and CEO Joseph Carbone recognized her for her years of service and her partnership in workforce development.

Gliniecki’s involvement in the community includes serving as president of the Bridgeport Rotary and chair of the Bridgeport Higher Education Alliance, as well as serving on the boards of the Bridgeport YMCA, The Workplace, the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, the United Way, the Business Council of Fairfield County’s Education and Business Leaders, the International Women’s Forum, and Juneteenth.

In addition, she is a former member of the National Commission on Academic, Student, and Community Development of the American Association of Community Colleges.
