What types of clubs and organizations can students join?

Student programs are an important part of the educational process that provide a means for students to enter into extra and co-curricular experiences. The wide variety of student clubs and organizations offer additional opportunities for learning in which intellectual, leadership, social and emotional growth can evolve. Student participation within the wide variety of organizational offerings provides a valuable educational laboratory where commitments and a progression of new skills, knowledge, and friendships can take place.

All students pay a student activity fee (SAF) every semester. These funds are used to support organization events as well as provide educational, cultural and recreational activities. A Club Day is held each semester in order to introduce students to college organizations. Students are encouraged to join and participate in any of the recognized clubs and organizations.

The Student Activities Office (Room BH-317) serves as a clearinghouse for social, cultural, educational, volunteer and recreational opportunities for registered students at Housatonic. For information about upcoming student activities, email the Student Activities Office, or call (203) 332-5094.

The Housatonic website displays a current list of student clubs and organizations.

Is there a Student Government at Housatonic?

The students at Housatonic are governed by an elected group of student representatives called the Student Senate.  Student Senators act as the official liaisons between the student body and the administration and they also manage the allocation of the student activity fund. During the academic year, the student government meets every other week to conduct business. If you have questions, visit the Student Activities Office.
